10 Tips for Developing Relationships: | Crosworks

1.    Get out of the office.
2.    Have lunch with a friend who works in another business or field of work.
3.    Have lunch with an acquaintance who works for the competition.
4.    Send a friendly "catch up" email to a few of the  people you met at
the last conference you  attended and share what you have done with some
of the information you learned and ask them to share the same.
5.    Look through your professional association directory and reach out to
a peer in another part of the country to find out how they are working
with technology and new products.
6.    Volunteer for a new project at work or with your professional association.
7.    Get involved in a nonprofit in your area on a committee, a board, a
task force where you can use your expertise or develop a new one.
(Volunteers can try on all sorts of tasks and not get fired!)
8.    Stay at work and check out what some of the "other" departments are doing outside of your area.
9.    Benchmark your current skill sets and competencies with someone who does similar work to you in another company.
10.  Mind your manners and relationships. Reread Dale Carnegie's book, How
to Win Friends and Influence People, and, Leticia Baldridge's book, New
Manners for New Times.
