A recent U.S. Department of Education study found that of all freshman enrolled in four-year colleges and universities, only 31% earned their bachelor’s degree in four years. Another 26% took five years to finish. And after five years, 28% had dropped out. Switching majors greatly affects length of time in college and whether students complete their degree.
